Daniel awarded and published

The SCA's , now officially a Professor Emeritus (as well as a Distinguished ԰AV Professor, among other accolades), is still making ԰AV news, receiving a 2023 Chancellor’s Distinguished Service Award, along with Beedie School of Business' , for their work co-founding the ԰AV Black Caucus, for which Daniel was elected to serve as Academics, Research and Mentorship Officer. Rodriguez premieres Lua Sapo

The SCA's Noé Rodriguez's new film, Lua Sapo / Frog Moon, had its world premiere at the Fronteira Festival of Documentary and Experimental Film, which ran August 29 – September 3, 2023, at Cine Brasília (SHCS EQS 106/107 – Brasilia). More .

Amal’s Garden in Baghdad

The SCA's Nadia Shihab's film Amal’s Garden, filmed in Kirkuk in 2010 with her great uncle Mustafa and great aunt Amal, was screened at Baghdad's on September 1, 2023. Find out more about the film on Shihab's website .

El Shazly wins the Jeune tête d’affiche contest

SCA MFA student is the recipient of the 2023-2024 Jeune tête d’affiche contest by the Dazibao Art Gallery in Montreal for her MFA multimedia project, Hyperopia, which is currently being presented as part of Autofictional, the MFA Graduating Exhibition & Festival, which is runs September 6 – 23, 2023, in the Audain Gallery & other venues at ԰AV Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 W. Hastings St., Vancouver), including a "live cinema" version of Hyperopia on September 15 in the GCA's Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema (get tickets ). Congratulations, Mena! More .

, an ԰AV alumnus who was an essential part of the organization and realization of the 2022 edition of the Skoden Indigenous Film Festival, is busy on new film-fest projects, including co-curating , which is part of the 2023 Vancouver Latin American Film Festival, running Saturday, September 9 at 2:00 PM at The Cinematheque (1131 Howe St., Vancouver), as well as , "a new monthly series dedicated to showcasing the new wave of inspired Indigenous storytelling in film," which begins October 11, 2023, also at The Cinematheque. Walker's good news

Double good news for SCA MFA student Taryn Walker, who produced "the biggest mural of my career thus far at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. (60 x 16.5 ft)" and also "received a scholarship to travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to study with a master printmaker at U of T in the Spring." Congrats x 2!
