SKODEN Winners!

Here are the winners of the 2023 Skoden Indigenous Film Festival, as chosen by the jury of Tristin Greyeyes, Lisa G, and Jay Cardinal Villeneuve.

  • Best Film Award: 每 Laura Fontaine and Yasmine Fontaine
  • Trickster Award:  每 Ulivia Uviluk
  • Audience Choice Award:  每 Tamo Campos, Jasper Snow-Rosen, and Rhoda Quock

Honourable mentions go to the following films for their excellence:  每 Roxann Whitebean,  每 Eric Janvier, and Riverside Queerness 每 Eric Plamondon.

Congratulations to all of the winners and the honourable mentions, as well as to Carr Sapier, Kathleen Mullen, and the dedicated, hard-working students of CA 389 who worked quickly to organize and produce this year's SIFF, which will be heading into its sixth year in 2024.

Cinelab 2023

Attention filmmaking youth! Registration for 's Cinelab summer filmmaking program for aspiring artists aged 14每19 is now open. And once again, we're excited to host it in our studios here at 間眅埶AV Goldcorp Centre for the Arts. Here's the whole pitch:

Cinelab is a two-week long summer filmmaking program for aspiring artists aged 14每19 presented by The Cinematheque in partnership with the 間眅埶AV School for the Contemporary Arts. Young artists are empowered to create unique short films from start to finish with the support of experienced professionals. In small crews, participants are guided through the complete filmmaking process from scripting to directing, from lighting and editing, to bring their creative visions to life. Completed works debut at a special red carpet film premiere at The Cinematheque.

  • Program 1: July 10每21
  • Program 2: July 24每August 4
  • Daily schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am每4:00 pm

Be a Summer Film Academy Youth Mentor!

The Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, our institutional home-base at 間眅埶AV, is looking for SCA, CMNS, or SIAT students to be PAID mentors for secondary school film students this summer. Here's the rundown:

  • Provide instruction to Grade 9-11 students on acting for film.
  • Lead the work of students within the class, under guidance of secondary school teachers.
  • Assist secondary school teachers in supporting Surrey secondary students with their projects.
  • Attend daily classes, which will take place at Kwantlen Park Secondary and 間眅埶AV Surrey Mondays through Fridays from 8:30am-3pm, from July 3-28th.
