Here's some from a student-organized end-of-semester + congratulations-on-the-shows party thrown by the Theatre & Performance fourth years in celebration of their very successful "capstone" projects presented as part of the Live Acts Festival, which ran March 22 鈥� 25 & March 30 鈥� April 1, 2023. Great to see so many signees to this open letter in opposition "to the inhumane and harmful forced displacement the City of Vancouver has undertaken to decamp the Downtown Eastside (DTES)," including many folks from the SCA. While a statement like this only has so much power, it's still important and necessary to be critical of this strategy by the City of Vancouver, which seems designed to merely punish the most disempowered and marginalized people suffering the consequences of systemic inequity and other fundamental problems, rather than addressing the more likely political-economic causes.
