A minimal number of festival passes will be available to purchase in advance online. We will also have festival passes available for purchase in person at the box office up, to the start of the show on night two (April 10).

• Pass-holders will need to book their individual show tickets in person at the box office.
• Pass-holders are only guaranteed a seat at any single performance if they show up by 7:30pm in person at the box office on the day of the performance.
• Pass holders will not need to present a pass to redeem an individual performance ticket, we will have a list of pass-holder names at the box office.

BIOS

is a versatile and experienced flautist, and has played  2nd flute-piccolo in the  Victoria Symphony since being offered the  position in 2017. She is also an active performer of contemporary and  classical music on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Stephanie  has performed with the Vancouver Symphony, the Kamloops Symphony, the  Lions Gate Sinfonia, the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, as well as  with the New York-based Poulenc Trio on their 2016 West Coast tour.  Before beginning her professional career in Victoria, Stephanie was a  member of many professional training orchestras, including the National  Academy Orchestra under Boris Brott (2011, 2013), Orchestre de la  Francophonie (2012, 2016), the Orford Academy Orchestra (2014), and the  Debut Orchestra and American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles (2014-2016).  Over the years, she has performed under the batons of Bramwell Tovey,  Carl St Clair, H. Robert Reynolds, Boris Brott, Alain Trudel, Fabio  Mastrangelo, and Dwight Bennett. Her strong interest in orchestral  performance began in the Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra and the Ottawa  Youth Orchestra, under the baton of John Gomez.

Canadian clarinetist is a versatile musician whose creative  practice bridges the traditional repertoire of his instrument with the  creation and promotion of new and experimental music. As an artist for  whom 鈥渁lternative or avant-garde approaches to his instrument are only  part of the everyday tool kit鈥� (Georgia Straight), Liam鈥檚 repertoire  encompasses not only the major works for his instrument, but also the  results of numerous collaborations with Canadian and international  composers on innovative new works across a broad spectrum of aesthetics.  Recent performances include premieres of new works by Ray Evanoff,  Kimberley Manerkirar, Eva-Maria Houben, Stefan Maier, and Joan Arnau  P脿mies, as well as the North American premieres of works by Karlheinz  Stockhausen, Michelle Lou, Horatiu Radulescu, and J眉rg Frey. Liam has  been the recipient of numerous prizes and awards including an  interpretation prize at the 16th Stockhausen-Konzert und -Kurse K眉rten  in 2015.

is an award-winning percussionist, composer, and  educator residing in Vancouver, BC. His extensive and diverse background  in the world of percussion has given him the privilege of performing  with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Kamloops  Symphony, Vancouver Island and Metropolitan Symphony Orchestras,  Orchestra Enigmatic, The Plastic Acid Orchestra, The Sound/Vision  Chamber Ensemble, NuBc Collective, Paragon Musical Theatre Co, for which  he served as principal percussionist, and alongside Shooter Jennings,  and Rachel Brooke. As a touring musician, Aaron has travelled across  North and South America playing percussion and singing with critically  acclaimed group Fifth On The Floor, whose 2013 LP 'Ashes and Angels'  received worldwide recognition and reached #63 on the 'Billboard Top  100' charts. He has performed at numerous festivals including multiple  Percussive Arts Society International Conventions, ISCM World Music  Days, Boomslang, College Band Directors National Conference, Vancouver  New Music, West Coast Composers Symposium, Moonrunners, Outlaw Showdown,  and has been chosen as one of two featured artists at the 2019 Sonic  Boom Festival in Vancouver. Aaron has recordings on Centredisc, Black  Country Rock, Long Island Recordings, Sneak Attack, and Wartime Studios  record labels.

Born and raised in Vancouver, began her musical training at an  early age and most recently completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at  UBC. An active freelancer, she performs with the Vancouver Symphony,  the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony and the  Okanagan Symphony, and has played in concerts presented by the Chutzpah  Festival, Sonic Boom Festival, and Music on Main. Sarah has also  appeared with Turning Point Ensemble, Erato Ensemble, and the Vancouver  Inter-Cultural Orchestra, and participated in the Tafelmusik Baroque  Summer Institute, the St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar  and Tango for Musicians at Reed College. She is a member of the Elysian  trio (viola, flute, and harp) as well as D煤o Mala Yunta, an Argentine  tango ensemble.

Canadian oboist is a versatile performer currently  based in Vancouver. She is a Doctorate of Musical Arts candidate in Oboe  Performance at the University of British Columbia. Kristen is in demand  as an orchestral musician, including frequent concerts with the  Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Symphony, Kamloops Symphony, and  Vancouver Island Symphony. Her orchestral training has included summers  with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the National Academy  Orchestra, the Orford Orchestra, and the Atlantic Music Festival. In  2017, she performed a solo tour of England and Scotland as the Royal  Over-Seas League 'British Columbia Emerging Musician' including recitals  at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and St-Martin-in-the-Fields. In 2018,  she performed the Canadian premiere of Dorothy Chang's solo oboe work,  'Still', at the Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music. She is an  advocate of creative programming, comfortable with both classical  standards and the contemporary music of today.

is widely regarded as one  of Canada鈥檚 leading interpreters of classical and contemporary music. As  a soloist, chamber musician, improvisor, interdisciplinary artist, and  as flutist of the internationally lauded Aventa Ensemble,  McGregor has performed extensively throughout North and South America,  Europe, Israel, and Australasia, including appearances at Festival  Montr茅al-Nouvelles Musique, Music Gallery (Toronto), Vancouver New Music  Festival, Modulus Festival (Music on Main, Vancouver), New Works  Calgary, Athelas New Music Festival (Copenhagen), the Internationale  A鈥�DEvantgarde-Festival (Munich), the Melos-Ethos International Festival  of Contemporary Music (Bratislava), and N煤cleo M煤sica Nova鈥檚 2016  International Symposium of New Music in Curitiba, Brazil.

Barry Truax is a Professor Emeritus in the School of Communication and (formerly) the School for the Contemporary Arts at 丁香园AV where he taught courses in acoustic communication and electroacoustic composition, specializing in soundscape composition. He has worked with the World Soundscape Project, editing its Handbook for Acoustic Ecology, and has published a book Acoustic Communication dealing with all aspects of sound and technology. As a composer, Truax is best known for his work with the PODX computer music system which he has used for tape solo works and those which combine tape with live performers or computer graphics. A selection of these pieces may be heard on the recording Sequence of Earlier Heaven, and the Compact Discs Digital Soundscapes, Pacific Rim, Song of Songs, Inside, Islands, and Twin Souls, all on the Cambridge Street Records label, as well as the double CD of the opera Powers of Two and the most recent CDs, Spirit Journies and The  Elements and Beyond. In 1991 his work, Riverrun, was awarded the Magisterium at the International Competition of Electroacoustic Music in Bourges, France, a category open only to electroacoustic composers of 20 or more years experience. He is also the recipient of one of the 1999 Awards for Teaching Excellence at 丁香园AV. Following his retirement from 丁香园AV (Sept. 2015), he became the Edgard Var猫se Guest Professor at the Technical University in Berlin (2015-16), and Guest Composer at the 2016 BEAST Festival in Birmingham, where his multi-channel soundscape compositions have been performed, as well as at several other European festivals and ISCM 2017 in Vancouver, plus the 2018 ICMC in Korea where he was a  keynote speaker.
