Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day!
With one of our favourite Faculty bio pictures of the SCA's (very photogenic) Raymond Boisjoly above to help us celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day today (June 21), here in National Indigenous History Month, we'd like to encourage those of us with a settler-colonial background (and indeed perhaps everyone non-Indigenous living here as a result of Canada's settler-colonial history) to please take some time to read and/or reread the 's "94 Calls to Action" from 2015 (download them ). Serious work still needs to be done! For our Indigenous colleagues, friends, loved ones, and family, please instead enjoy of the Cro-Mags' Hard Times, a raging, uplifting anthem about resilience from the band's 1986 debut, The Age of Quarrel, which we'd like to especially share in tribute to Raymond, whose shirt provided the recommendation (and whose broad, informed musical taste is excellent, besides).

Read it . (Please note, BTW: since our faculty and students typically devise and produce our shows term-by-term and in real-time, we can't announce a packaged season like the good folks at Studio 58 or UBC. While this does make long-view PR challenging, it also adds grit and excitement to the uniqueness of the SCA. And frankly, as crazy as it can sometimes get in the rush to curtain time, we like it this way!)
