Suter is in Vancouver for an exhibition at the Polygon, which opens on Nov 1, 2018 and runs to January 13, 2019. Parallel Encyclopedia Extended marks the artist's first exhibition in North America. She has recently presented exhibitions at The Photographers Gallery, London and Museum f羹r Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt in conjunction with the 2018 Deutsche B繹rse Photography Foundation Prize. In response to the Polygon Gallerys location in a rainforest landscape, she will produce a large-scale collage of nature images. Based in the Netherlands, Suter has published numerous artist books and has exhibited widely, most recently at Le Bal in Paris that extended to photographic murals in a railway station.
This photographic installation marks the first North American exhibition by Swiss visual artist and bookmaker Batia Suter. Recently exhibited at The Photographers Gallery, London and Museum f羹r Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt in conjunction with the 2018 Deutsche B繹rse Photography Foundation Prize, Suters installation explores salient themes in contemporary photography, such as the archive and the legibility of images with digital proliferation. Suters constellation of photographic reproductions are drawn from thousands of books.
