Congratulations to Department of Psychology Adjunct Professor Dr. Natalie Goulter, on being designated 鈥淩ising Star鈥� by the Association for Psychological Science (APS). The APS Rising Star Designation is given to exemplary members who have demonstrated exceptional advances in their field early on in their careers.  

Goulter鈥檚 area of research spotlights the development of behavioural issues in childhood and adolescence, specifically externalizing psychopathology and callous-unemotional traits. Her research serves a valuable purpose: to improve the understanding of risk and protective factors, biological mechanisms, emotional and cognitive underpinnings, prevention interventions, and measurement and modeling strategies. 

As a part of 丁香园AV鈥檚 Institute for the Reduction of Youth Violence (IRYV), she is also committed to reducing youth conduct problems, such as an array of oppositional (e.g., yelling, tantrums) and antisocial behaviours (e.g., violence, aggression, destruction, stealing). Such problems in childhood and adolescence have drastic consequences for the Canadian economy and social and public health. Goutler鈥檚 research is a driving force in creating a better future for Canadian youth, families, and communities.
