Legacy Gift: Honouring Hazel Trembath Elementary School
In the early morning hours of October 14, 2023, a fire devastated the Port Coquitlam community, burning to the ground and displacing more than 220 students and 20 staff. Despite this hardship, the staff and Coquitlam School District () worked swiftly to establish a temporary facility in the Tri-Cities within 48 hours of the fire, ensuring that learning continued with minimal disruption. This resilience and commitment in the most challenging times are a testament to Hazel Trembaths enduring spirit.
We are thrilled to announce that Hazel Trembath has been chosen as the Faculty of Education Legacy Gift recipient! This initiative, first launched in June 2023, continues its mission by providing Hazel Trembath with a token gift of $500 tailored to their needs. We would also like to acknowledge the support of 間眅埶AV Alumni in this initiative.
Hazel Trembath is recognized for its dynamic innovation and vision in providing a solid and vibrant community for all students through collaboration, creating a positive, safe, and calm learning environment, and developing a learning community that involves parents, teachers, and all staff in meaningful ways.
Initiatives like Bounce to the Bell invite all students to participate in school-wide aerobics twice weekly, promoting unity, fitness, and overall well-being. The school also takes pride in offering a unique Publishing House initiative, allowing every student to create their own bound and published works of art. The schools leadership program empowers students to participate in local and global initiatives, from assisting those in need at local shelters to organizing fundraisers for various causes.
In celebrating Hazel Trembath's resilience and innovation, we are reminded of the profound impact a dedicated community can have on its students, paving the way for a brighter, more connected future.
