Re-Entry and Re-¶¡ÏãÔ°AV
Students who have withdrawn or interrupted from EDUC 401/402, 403, 405 (PDP/PLP), EDUC 406 (PQP), or have changed their program sequence may apply, by the deadline, to re-enter the Program. Students who withdrew from EDUC 400 must apply by the PDP admissions deadlines.
Although every effort is made to accommodate students who wish to re-enter the program in the semester of their choice, this cannot be guaranteed. Factors such as space available for re-admitted students, as well as the total number of applicants in any given semester, inevitably influence the possibility of re-admission even for qualified candidates.
NOTICE
Students returning to the PPS program after a withdrawal or interruption are responsible for verifying their eligibility for ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Medical Insurance in the term of their reactivation. Please be aware that re-entry into the program does not guarantee automatic enrolment in the medical insurance program; students must actively OPT-IN to secure coverage.
For comprehensive details on enrolling and understanding your medical insurance options, visit: /students/enrolment-services/fees/medical-insurance.html. It is essential for students to take this step to ensure they are adequately covered.
NOTE: Students who withdraw from the program for the second time cannot reapply as a re-entry student to Preservice Professional Studies.

Applications must be submitted no later than 4:30pm on the deadline date.
RE-ADMISSION TO EDUCATION 400
Student teachers who withdraw from the program before completing EDUC 400 must re-apply for admission to the program. While their applications are subject to the same criteria for admission as all other candidates, the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AVs Committee may also consider any available information about a student teacher’s performance during the time the student teacher was enrolled in the program. A previous admission does not imply any right to re-admission.
RE-ENTRY TO EDUCATION 401/402, 403, 405 or 406
Student teachers who have withdrawn from EDUC 401/402, 403, 405, or 406 must be successful in their application to be re-admitted within 4 semesters after interrupting or withdrawing from the program.
Student teachers may not apply for re-entry to EDUC 401/402, 405, or 406 in the same semester they withdraw (i.e. student teachers who withdraw from EDUC 401/402, 405, or 406 early in the fall semester are not eligible to apply that September for re-entry the following January. Similarly, student teachers who withdraw from EDUC 401/402, 403, or 406 in the spring semester are not eligible to apply in March for re-entry the following September). As part of their application to re-enter EDUC 401/402, 403, 405, or 406, student teachers must submit (by the deadlines indicated above) supporting data which demonstrates that all re-entry conditions have been met.
EDUC 401/402, 403
Student teachers may apply for re-entry by the September 15 deadline for the following two spring terms. Students must meet the conditions for re-entry outlined in their withdrawal paperwork. An interview is also required. Re-Entry is competitive; there is no guarantee of admission to a particular semester.
EDUC 405, 406
Student teachers may apply for re-entry by September 15 for the spring term or March 15 for the fall term. Students must meet the conditions for re-entry outlined in their withdrawal paperwork. An interview is also required. Applications must be submitted within two years of the withdrawal. Re-Entry is competitive; there is no guarantee of admission to a particular semester.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements for re-entry may include one or more of the following:
- Complete conditions of re-entry (refer to re-entry paperwork).
- The student teacher may need to show documentation of new observation and/or volunteer experience working in educational/instructional contexts.
- The student teacher may need to show completion of required coursework.
- The student teacher may be required to complete specific tasks involving reading, writing, reflection, planning and/or instruction.
- The student teacher may be required to have an interview with the Re-Entry Committee.
- Student teachers who withdraw from the program for a second time will not be considered for re-entry to the program.
