Applying to ¶ˇĎăÔ°AV’s teacher education programs is about to get easier
Becoming a teacher in British Columbia just got a little easier thanks to a new application system being introduced by the Faculty of Education at ¶ˇĎăÔ°AV.
The new system will simplify the application process for thousands of aspiring teachers applying to the Faculty’s professional teacher education programs each year.
The Professional Development Program’s Manager of ¶ˇĎăÔ°AVs and Recruitment, Suzanne Norman, says the new system will be used for the Faculty’s five professional teacher education programs, including the long-standing PDP.
“We’re excited about some of the more user-friendly design and features. It won’t just improve the applicant experience, it will also help to streamline our review process,” says Norman.
The new system’s official launch will coincide with the opening of the applications on October 1, 2020.
For more information on the rollout, view the FAQs below.
Why is Professional Programs changing the application system?
To improve the applicant experience, the Faculty of Education will start using a new application platform, SurveyMonkey Apply, for all teacher education programs from October 1, 2020.
The new platform has a user-friendly design that will not only simplify the application process for our prospective students, it will also help to streamline the review and evaluation process for our faculty and staff.
Which programs will be using the new application system?
All of ¶ˇĎăÔ°AV’s professional teacher education programs will use the new system from October 1, 2020. This includes the Professional Development Program (PDP), Professional Linking Program (PLP), Professional Qualification Program (PQP), Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education (AHCOTE) and Helping Ease Access for Returning Teachers (HEART).
Can I still access my old application?
No. You will not be able to access current or past accounts after August 7, 2020.
If you have applied to one of our professional programs in the past, you will need to create a new account and start a new application if you intend on applying again. The people providing your references will also need to create a new account.
I already have an account. Will I need to create a new one?
Yes. All program applicants, references, faculty and staff will need to create a new account in SurveyMonkey Apply. Information on how to access and create a new account will be provided before October 1, 2020. Please check our website for updates.
I’ve recently applied to a professional program. Can I still get an offer of admission?
Yes. If you’ve got an active application for one of our programs, including the Professional Development Program, you can still receive offers of admission for 2020/21. Our admissions team is contacting applicants regarding offers.
I deferred my application. Do I need to re-apply?
If you deferred your application, you will not need to submit and pay for a new application. The admissions team will reach out to you in the new year regarding your seat in the program.
