I became a peer mentor because I remember how intimidating the first year of university can be with meeting people, attending lectures, talking to professors, etc... Through my experience, I want to help incoming students feel welcomed into their life at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.

I hope to share insights and my experiences to help first-year students not feel so alone.

What is your best first year memory?

My best first-year memory was learning that university life can be a more flexible schedule, which allowed me to balance my social, work and academic life. I also enjoyed meeting new people and joining a dragon boating club, where I have made many unforgettable memories with my teammates.

Words of advice to new students?

As a new student, I recommend getting involved in clubs! Clubs are a great way to meet new people and experience university life. It can be pretty scary, but talk to new people because everyone’s in the same boat as you! Also, contact professors or TAs, especially when you need help or have a conversation.

What are you involved in on and off campus?

For my final year, I’m not super involved on campus besides being a Peer Mentor, but outside of campus, I volunteer in a classroom with elementary students and work as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor.
