Angela Kaida on Engaging Community in HIV Research for Below the Radar
Dr. Angela Kaida recently spoke with Am Johal at the Below the Radar podcast to discuss how she utilizes an interdisciplinary, community-driven and ethics-based approach to her research and how it has enriched her work.
Kaida is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at AV and a global health epidemiologist. She was also a Researcher-in-Residence at CERi in the Fall 2020 Semester. Her research focuses on the linkages between HIV and sexual and reproductive health for women and nonbinary people.
“Working from a model of reciprocity has really strengthened what we’re capable of doing,” says Kaida, adding that relationship-building as one of the biggest joys of the work she does. Two of her most recent projects, which CERi has supported her the Community-Engaged Research Funding Program, include Life and Love with HIV and the CHIWOS-PAW projects.
