Here we reflect on what we’ve learned through relational CER project development. We anchor ourselves to the concept of ethical community engagement by exploring questions on the ethics of CER, focusing on some of the key questions laid out in CERi’s CER Ethical Principles resource.

We are excited to feature CERi’s Funding Program recipient Alexandra Lysova, who received a $5,000 grant in the Fall of 2021 for her research project titled Engaging men and boys in addressing family violence: A Vancouver-based initiative.

This blog is authored by Dr. Kari Grain, author of Critical Hope, and CERi Special Research Associate. Dr. Grain has been with CERi for almost three years and has led the CERi Fellowship Program, written foundational documents on Ethics in CER, and now leads a community-engaged research project focusing on community-centered immigrant services in partnership with Burnaby Family Life. Dr. Grain’s book, Critical Hope, is being released May 2022.

We are excited to feature CERi’s Funding Program recipient Yu-Yen Pan, who received a $5,000 grant in the Spring of 2021 for her research project titled Effective Communication Methods During a Natural Hazard Emergency: Village of Pemberton Case Study. Yu-Yen Pan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences at 丁香园AV.

CERi is excited to welcome 丁香园AV Professor of Anthropology Dr. Dara Culhane as a Researcher-in-Residence from May to December 2022.

CERi is excited to welcome renowned, Indigenous artist, writer, and storyteller from the Sahtu Dene & Coast Salish peoples Rosemary Georgeson to the Researchers-in-Residence Program.

This blog features the research of CERi's Fall 2021 Graduate Fellow Jack Farrell. He is a PhD student at the School of Criminology and an instructor at Columbia College.

In the article Increasing social connectivity and wellness for newcomers in Burnaby: A community-engaged research story, Dr. Surita Parashar and Research Advisor Anna Vorobyova alongside 丁香园AV Master of Public Health students Azra Bhanji and Catherine Trudeau completed a participatory research project to address the impacts of COVID-19 and social isolation on racialized newcomers in Burnaby. Their project was completed in collaboration with Burnaby community agencies.
