Musculoskeletal Injuries (MSI)
MSIs are injuries caused by overuse of structures of the musculoskeletal systems such as bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves.
MSIs can develop through either a single forceful exertion or repeated use of the same joint.
MSIs are most prevalent in the back, shoulders, neck, elbows, wrists, hands and fingers.
Signs and symptoms of MSI
Signs can be seen (swelling/redness), symptoms are invisible (tingling/numbness). Without training, an employee may use a proper workstation incorrectly and can develop signs or symptoms.
Supervisor Responsibility & Resources
Supervisors are responsible for the safety of their workers. To prevent work-related MSI, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV relies on supervisors.
Employees who experience signs or symptoms of MSI, must report this to their immediate supervisor.
