Hot work

Hot Work at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV refers to any activity that has an open flame, spark generating potential or significant heat generating.

Prior to performing any hot work activities, it is required that the group or individuals conduct a documented risk assessment to ensure the appropriate control measures are in place and all ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV requirements have all been fullfulled.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Requirements

  • Log your Project/Work/Job through the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Contractor Safety Management System (Safety Spectrum), and all workers/field staff have a valid (1 year expiration)¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Contractor Safety Orientation.
  • Through your ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV representative, request that they submit a Facilities Services - Electrical Department 48 Hour Notice to review the working space and if required, the area's fire detection systems have been temporarily impaired for your duration of work. Please speak to Facilities Services if you have any questions regarding the impairments or detection systems.
  • Use the online Hot Work Permit Request form to submit your request for a hot work permit.
    • If this is a Prime Contractor site and the hot work is within the Prime Contractor's active zone/area, please go through the Prime Contractor's Hot Work Program.

Hot Work Permit Returns and Pickup

All permits must be returned back to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. Returns and Pickup are at Facilities Services building and Discovery 1 building. Facilities Services will be located at the front desk reception of Facilities Services department. Discovery 1 building will be in the front desk reception of Safety and Risk Services department.
