Campus Planning & Development

Campus Planning & Development is one of three units within ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Facilities Services department and is responsible for managing the primary functions involved in expanding and renovating university facilities such as:

  • Campus planning
  • Managing major/minor capital construction/renovation projects
  • Documenting building records/standards
  • Promoting sustainable construction/business practices

Campus Planning & Development unit is made up of four divisions:

Major Projects Division

This division is responsible for planning, management and delivery of capital construction projects. This includes new buildings and renovation projects at all three of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s main campuses.

  • Lorne Davies Complex
  • Marianne and Gibson Art Museum
  • Residence Phase II - Courtyard Residence

Project Services Division

This division manages construction and renovation of projects at the Burnaby campus.

Key projects by Project Services include:

  • Shrum Sciences Centre Renewal
  • Library 5000-level remediation
  • WearTech Labs (Surrey campus)
  • Library Standby Generator Replacement
  • Library Book Arts Studio
  • Indigenous Curriculum Resource Centre
  • Academic Quadrangle 4000-level re-roofing and sprinklers
  • Campus-wide washroom upgrades
  • Campus-wide lounge renewals
  • Biology Teaching Lab

Campus Planning Division

This division ensures that development of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s campuses takes place in an organized fashion, so that new building development and expansion fits within an overall ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV 5-Year Capital Plan, making the best use of limited land resources and incorporating transit services' and other infrastructure needs.

Planning Services Division

This divsion manages and maintains records on the university's physical assets to support campus planning and project implementation. This division organizes and manages building plans/records, site maps, utilities maps, graphics and maintains a full inventory of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's space. This division also develops and manages Technical Building design standards and guidelines for building design and renovation projects in support of the university's .
