Our Logo Story

Up until 2007, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Coat of Arms served as the university’s logo. In 2007, a logo was created to capture the breadth of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s programming and student experience, resulting in the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV logo as we know it today.

The visual expression was intended to be practical—a simple, sturdy block that could serve as an anchor for a broad variety of applications. Letters were placed in the bottom-right corner to give the impression of motion and pushing the edge forward. These letters were custom created by renowned B.C.-based type designer Jim Rimmer, who came out of retirement for this project.
