Social Media in a Crisis
Social media can be a very effective tool in an emergency or crisis. This could include dangerous weather conditions, an active threat on campus, or a natural disaster.
In the event of a crisis:
- Stop tweeting regular news items and turn off any scheduled tweets
- Follow ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s main social media accounts and the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Communicators Teams channel for information on what to share on faculty and departmental accounts
- Retweet or directly quote tweets and posts from the main account verbatim. Any information on a situation being pushed out by the @¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Twitter account or Facebook page originates with ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Communications & Marketing and may be considered official public information.
- Don’t retweet or share information from unofficial or unverified sources, including media
