The Cage

Course: IAT 336 Materials in Design
Description: The project is based on the design language and aesthetics of Neri & Hu studio which was the inspiration behind crafting a highly resolved, refined, and polished lighting experience. It has a unique set of cultural concepts and combines multiple fabrications and materials such as different types of metal wire bending (DI wire), laser-cut, and model casting (accu-cast alginates molding and platinum silicone molding). The designers wanted to anchor the work on the dynamic form, material, expression, and light rather than conforming to a formulaic style. The ultimate significance behind the project is to create the meaning of hope based on multi-culture through its physical representations.
