The School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT), located in beautiful greater Vancouver, seeks applications for a full-time continuing teaching faculty appointment at the rank of Lecturer in Interactive Arts & Technology. SIAT is a vibrant, collaborative, interdisciplinary, and internationally recognized school integrating human-centered computing, design, and media. Our faculty members are unique in their disciplinary diversity, and we value the intersection of trans-disciplinary knowledge creation. SIAT offers degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. The School currently enrolls about 800 undergraduate and 110 graduate students with a female ratio of over 50%. SIATs infrastructure includes innovative and collaborative teaching and teaching facilities on 間眅埶AVs award-winning distinctive Surrey urban campus. We are a research-intensive school occupying the traditional territories of the Squamish (S廎硬x戔w繳7mesh xwumixw), Musqueam (x妢m庛k妢 ym), Tsleil-Waututh (slil wta优), Katzie (q穩cy), and Kwikwetlem (k妢ik妢 m) peoples.

SIAT invites applications from candidates with interdisciplinary knowledge and practices in Interactive Arts & Technology who can build upon and strengthen our collaborative culture. Applicants should have a breadth of experience across media and computing that encompasses pedagogy, teaching, and practice.  The ideal candidates teaching expertise will expand upon one or more of these areas: emergent digital media, computational creativity, affective, interactive, physical computing, design, or other emerging critical pedagogical skills in technology. We encourage applications from individuals whose teaching experience draws from multiple disciplines in which interactive arts and technology approaches are grounded within societal, ethical, and/or cultural principles. Experience with Indigenous knowledge, culture, and practices is welcomed and encouraged.  This position may also provide opportunities for teaching at the graduate level in our new SIAT project-based master's program.

Applicants must hold a PhD or Master's degree with minimum of five years teaching experience in a field related to Interactive Arts & Technology with strength in technological and computational foundations. SIAT invites applications from candidates who can develop successful pedagogical collaborations with other faculty in our highly interdisciplinary environment. We seek applicants with teaching experience and a strong potential for instructional and curriculum innovation at the undergraduate level.

Faculty salaries at 間眅埶AV are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the 間眅埶AV Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role as of July 1, 2024, is $98,340 to $114,241. The successful candidate will begin on January 1st, 2025. All appointments are subject to the availability of funding and the Board of Governors final approval.
