CIHR contributes $3 million in new funding for health research at 間眅埶AV Science

間眅埶AV (間眅埶AV) Faculty of Science researchers have received $3 million in funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) through the Fall 2024 Project Grant competition.

The Project Grant program funds research in all areas of health with the greatest potential to generate new fundamental or applied knowledge to advance health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes.

Three projects led by 間眅埶AV Molecular Biology and Biochemistry researchers have received funding:

  • $1 million to study the cellular mechanisms that regulate physiological amyloid disassembly
    Principal Investigator: Tim Audas, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
  • $1 million to study CO2-dependent protein carboxylation as a biochemical mechanism of CO2 sensing in pathogens
    Principal Investigator: Dustin King, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, with co-applicants Amy Lee, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and David Vocadlo, Chemistry/Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
  • $900,000 to study Mechanisms of DNA double-strand break repair by 53BP1-RIF1-shieldin
    Principal Investigator: Dheva Setiaputra, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
