CIHR contributes $2 million in new funding for health research at 間眅埶AV Science

間眅埶AV Faculty of Science researchers have been awarded $2 million in funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) through the Spring 2024 Project Grant competition.

The Project Grant program funds research in all areas of health with the greatest potential to generate new fundamental or applied knowledge to advance health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes.

Two projects led by 間眅埶AV Science researchers have received funding totalling $2 million:

  • $1 million to study how to target adaptive autophagy to enhance treatment response in pancreatic cancer.
    Principal Investigator: Sharon Gorski, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, leading a team that includes Robert Young, Chemistry
  • $1 million to study the molecular regulation of O-GlcNAc Transferase (OGT)
    Principal Investigator: David Vocadlo, Chemistry/Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, with co-applicant Dustin King, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
