CIHR contributes over $2.5 million in new funding for health research at 間眅埶AV Faculty of Science

Health research involving researchers at 間眅埶AVs Faculty of Science is getting a boost thanks to new Project Grant funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

The Project Grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes. It supports research projects proposed and conducted by individual researchers or groups of researchers in all areas of health.

In total, four projects have received funding totalling $2.612,479.

  • $1 million to study the evolution of large B-cell lymphoma
    Principal Investigator: Ryan Morin, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
  • $597K to develop radiopharmaceuticals to treat melanoma
    Principal Investigator: Hua Yang, Chemistry, with 間眅埶AV researchers including Caterina Ramogida and Paul Schaffer, Chemistry
  • $543K to study the epidemiology of neonatal sepsis in low-income countries
    Principal Investigator: Amy Lee, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
  • $455K to develop inhibitors for the treatment of Batten disease
    Principal Investigator: David Vocadlo, Chemistry, with co-applicant Lisa Julian, Biological Sciences
