Advanced Research Computing (ARC) in Canada has received a major shot in the arm from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI). The $30M investment will help 間眅埶AV and other Canadian universities develop a high performance cyber network that will enable Canadian researchers to access and analyze massive pools of data in search of a far deeper understanding of how the scientific, social, health and economic worlds connect.

間眅埶AV, along with the University of Toronto, the University of Victoria, and the University of Waterloo are the four universities chosen to host the new system.

Dugan ONeil, a professor in 間眅埶AVs department of Physics and Chief Scientific Officer of Compute Canada says, This infrastructure will support researchers across all disciplines who are doing data-intensive or compute-intensive research. This includes the approximately120 間眅埶AV faculty and over 330 間眅埶AV researchers who currently have Compute Canada accounts.

Funds will be used at the 間眅埶AV site to purchase equipment for the state-of-the-art data centre which will begin serving Canadian researchers sometime in 2016.
