Professional Associations and Memberships

PIBC is the professional association of planners in British Columbia and the Yukon and has been dedicated to the advancement of the planning profession for more than 60 years. PIBC is the westernmost affiliate of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) – the national association. The Institute was incorporated in 1958 under the Society Act of British Columbia with just eight founding members

Becoming a non-corporate Accredited Student Member of PIBC is an excellent opportunity for post-secondary planning students to get connected with the planning profession, network with established professional planning practitioners, take advantage of the services and benefits of the Institute offered to Accredited Student Members, and build their future career in planning.

Post-secondary planning students who are currently enrolled full-time in a university planning school/program accredited by the PSB and CIP can become a student member for free. See the link below to apply for Student Membership.

CIP works on behalf of over 7,500 planning professionals and has served as the voice of Canada’s planning community since 1919.

CIP advocates for planners nationally and internationally and provides membership services that help planners advance in their careers. The Institute is a member-based organization with its management complemented by volunteers, who support and contribute to our activities on various levels.

Become a member of the CIP and join the largest network of professional and student planners in Canada. If you are a post-secondary student living and studying in Canada, you can join CIP for free! See the link below to apply for Student Membership.
