John Desnoyers-Stewart: Interactive Arts & Technology PhD student is finding new ways to connect people in virtual reality

SIAT PhD student John Desnoyers-Stewart is an inter颅dis颅ci颅pli颅nary artist-researcher and a pro颅fes颅sional engi颅neer connecting people in virtual reality.  

His research at the is focused on devel颅op颅ing immer颅sive instal颅la颅tions to encour颅age new per颅spec颅tives on immer颅sive tech颅nol颅ogy and to better under颅stand its true poten颅tial and study its effects. He has exhib颅ited his multi-user mixed real颅ity instal颅la颅tions, including the project , at art gal颅leries and fes颅ti颅vals through颅out the Lower Mainland and in Regina, Canada. Through these instal颅la颅tions he hopes to encour颅age social con颅nec颅tion and col颅lab颅o颅ra颅tive cre颅ativ颅ity, explor颅ing pos颅i颅tive social appli颅ca颅tions of vir颅tual real颅ity and better under颅stand颅ing the expe颅ri颅ence of embody颅ing abstract bodies.
