FCAT Excellence Awards

The Faculty of Communication, Art, and Technology (FCAT) is home to a remarkable community of faculty, staff, and alumni. To honor the exceptional work of our members, we established the FCAT Excellence Awards. The FCAT Research Excellence Awards were launched in 2018, and in 2021, we expanded the awards to include Teaching, Staff, and Alumni categories, further recognizing the outstanding contributions of our community.

Nomination process

  1. Prepare your supporting documentation (see criteria for each award category).
  2. Complete the  survey and upload any supporting documentation by October 21st, 2024.

Normally all awards are given out annually and ties may be considered. Award recipients will be notified two weeks prior to a Faculty-wide reception in early December.

The goal of the FCAT Staff Awards is to recognize those who excel in their work and service within the faculty. Nominees must have been staff members for at least two years of full-time employment (or equivalent) in FCAT. The awards are meant to recognize efforts over the past year, or, at least eight years for the Career Contributions award.

  • Impact Award  this award recognizes a staff member or team who has developed and/or applied innovative approaches, processes, or procedures that have had a positive impact on a department and/or the University as a whole.
  • Career Contributions Award  this award recognizes a staff member who has demonstrated sustained leadership and commitment to FCAT over the course of their employment.

Nominations can be made by faculty, staff or students from any school or program within FCAT.

Required nomination package includes:

  1. A nomination letter by one or more writers that introduces the candidate to the committee and illustrates why the candidate is deserving of the award in accordance with the criteria in the award description.

    1. The letter is the strongest part of the submission package. It must be 250-300 words.

    2. Nomination writers are asked to focus on clear examples that highlight the candidates excellence and to avoid general statements about the candidate and their work.

Adjudication committee: a committee will be chaired by the FCAT Director of Administration and Strategic Planning and include one staff member from each of FCATs schools and programs.

Disclaimer: We highly value the strong work done by Great Northern Way Staff as part of the Master of Digital Media Program; however, they are not eligible for FCAT Awards as they are not employees of 間眅埶AV.
