The Greg Younging Conversation 2023
Join us for a memorable event as we pay tribute to the incredible life and work of Greg Younging at The Greg Younging Conversation on May 3rd at 1:00 pm PST via Zoom.
This year, we are honoured to welcome award-winning Nisga'a author , a talented editor who has worked with renowned poetry magazines such as , and . Jordan is also planning the launch of a new journal, The Yarrow, by the end of 2023. Jordan was a member of the first , a group of Indigenous writers and editors who met at the in 2015 with Greg Younging. Together, this group co-authored many of the 22 principles in Greg's , a seminal text in Indigenous publishing and editing.
As a juror for several literary prizes, including the , Jordan has helped mentor a new generation of emerging Indigenous writers. His experience and insights make him the perfect guest for this year's The Greg Younging Conversation. Together with Sophie McCall, an esteemed settler scholar who has co-written a case study on collaboration as part of Greg's Elements of Indigenous Style and currently co-authoring a book on Indigenous-led collaboration, Jordan will lead a captivating conversation that will explore Indigenous publishing, editing, and creativity while celebrating the life and legacy of .
Greg was a bridge-maker who brought together diverse voices, and his conversations were highly regarded by anyone who had the privilege to sit across from him. As we acknowledge and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Younging and highlight those who continue his work wewelcome you to join us for this special event.

The Greg Younging Publishing Award Endowment
The was established on May 5, 2021 to honour Dr. Gregory Younging, the first Indigenous graduate of the Master of Publishing (MPub) program.
The endowment will create a fully-funded opportunity for an Indigenous student to complete the MPub degree at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.
The (ABPBC), in partnership with our Publishing Program, has established an undergraduate award to help support the training of emerging Indigenous publishers in Canada.
