A Future for Books with Brewster Kahle

This year, we are honoured to have the founder and Digital Librarian of , Brewster Kahle, as one of our guest speakers. He is a passionate advocate for public Internet access and a successful entrepreneur.

Kahle has spent his career intent on a singular focus: providing Universal Access to All Knowledge. Soon after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he studied artificial intelligence, he helped found the company , a parallel supercomputer maker.

In 1989, he created the Internet's first publishing system called , later selling the company to . In 1996, Kahle co-founded , which helps catalog the Web, selling it to  in 1999. , which he founded in 1996, works with more than 400 library and university partners to create an accessible digital library for all.

On Thursday, February 16, Brewster will talk about a future for books using , an open system built on open catalogue and open book formats, to find, buy, or borrow books.
