Natural Resources Canada to fund the Wildfire and Forest Industry Dialogue Series

The Centre's Mitigating Wildfire Initiative team is receiving a $500,000 grant under Natural Resources Canada’s  (CCAP) and the  (CRCC) Program.

Building climate resilience means keeping Canadians safer as extreme weather events become more frequent. 

On November 14th, Natural Resources Canada announced more than $39.5M in funding toward 53 projects through NRCan’s Climate Change Adaptation and Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities programs. British Columbia is receiving $7 million towards a dozen projects to address climate change, which includes .

The dialogue series will be led by our Mitigating Wildfire Initiative (MWI) team and will accelerate implementation of adaptation measures in the forest sector by addressing barriers to wildfire risk reduction and landscape fire management strategies.

Our MWI engagement analyst James Whitehead joined November's press conference to talk about the initiative and to thank the federal government for the grants.
