Help Transform Communities With Dialogue

The Centre's activities and signature events are supported through generous endowments established by our community members. Their generosity and belief in civic engagement and public discourse as tools to generate solutions to solve the world's most pressing problems have made the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue a trusted convener and hub for community initiatives.

The Jack P. Blaney Endowment Fund

The Jack P. Blaney Endowment Fund was established at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in September, 2000 by friends and colleagues to honour Jack P. Blaney, Fellow of the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, and former President, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. Jack Blaney's leadership and vision were pivotal to the conception and building of the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue.

The Endowment Fund supports the Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue, presented individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the use of dialogue to further the understanding of complex and profound public issues.

The Bruce and Lis Welch Community Award

The Bruce and Lis Welch Community Award at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue was established at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in 2000 by a generous gift from Bruce and Lis Welch. Longtime supporters of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, Bruce and Lis Welch believe in the efficacy of individuals working together to better the broader community. To this end, the Welch Community Award provides support to non-profit organizations to meet their community objectives by subsidizing their use of the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue and its unique communication environment.

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Centre for Dialogue Endowment

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Centre for Dialogue Endowment was established at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in 1994 in support of the creation of the Wosk Centre for Dialogue and associated Dialogue Programs, thanks to a generous contribution from Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) and other community partners.

The Wosk Family Endowment

The Wosk Family Endowment was established at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in September 2000 by Morris J. Wosk. Thanks to his foresight and investment, the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, named in his honour and in recognition for his generosity, became the first Centre in the English-speaking world dedicated to the practice and study of dialogue, and a space for respectful conversations between diverse stakeholders, where mutual curiosity and collaborative inquiry act as alternatives to adversarial approaches. In August 2020 Morris’s son, Dr. Yosef Wosk, once again stepped up to continue the Wosk family's tradition of support for dialogue and engagement by creating the Wosk Family Endowment which supports and enhances the activities of the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue.

The Sylvester Family Award

The Sylvester Family Award at the Centre for Dialogue was established at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in 2020 with a generous three year commitment from Shauna Sylvester, former Executive Director of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. At least one award, valued at a minimum of $1,000, will be granted annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in any faculty who is in good academic standing, has taken or enrolled in a Semester in Dialogue and has made a demonstrated commitment to dialogue on racial equity and justice.
