Teaching and Learning Development Grant Program
In 2007, the Teaching and Learning Development Grants were first introduced and facilitated by faculty members who were the founding members of the Institute for the Study of Teaching and Learning in the Disciplines (ISTLD). TLDG projects were typically funded for $5K, although two-phase grant projects with additional funding were also possible.
In response to partner feedback and through our program evaluation and assessment, we made changes to our model of teaching and learning inquiry at 間眅埶AV. We are excited to create more opportunities and entry ways for faculty, instructors, staff, and students to engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). In 2022, the TLDG program was replaced by SoTL 101 and SoTL 102.
Teaching and Learning Development Grants:
- Provided support for 間眅埶AV faculty members to investigate questions about teaching and learning of interest to them.
- Provided support for experimenting with and investigating the effectiveness of innovative approaches to teaching and student learning at 間眅埶AV.
- Supported the systematic investigation of how the design of teaching supports learning.
- Enhanced conversations about teaching and learning across academic units at 間眅埶AV.
- Provided recognition that scholarly activity around teaching in ones discipline is a legitimate activity to be recognized in promotion and tenure decisions.
- Provided a way to fit with the growing national and international agenda to subscribe to the practices underlying the scholarship of teaching and learning.
