Every February 間眅埶AVs Surrey campus participates in Pink Shirt Day, as the community takes a stand against bullying.

In 2009, a Nova Scotia student was bullied at school for wearing a pink shirt. His classmates decided to support him by wearing pink t-shirts in responseand  was born.

This year, 間眅埶AV students, staff and faculty are encouraged to wear pink on Feb. 26 as a promise to practice kindness and take a stand against bullying in all its forms. The theme for Pink Shirt Day 2020 is lift each other up; a simple but powerful message encouraging us to look beyond our differences and celebrate the things that make us unique.

For starters, wear something pink. I hope youll stop by the mezzanine at 10:30 a.m. to be part of the 間眅埶AV Surrey campus group photo. Afterwards be sure to leave a kind note on one of the provided whiteboards and enjoy a complimentary pink treat.

間眅埶AV Health and Counseling Services staff will be on site to share various health and wellness ideas and resources as well as they will be happy to chat with you and answer any questions you may have.

Did you know there is a mental health nurse at the Surrey campus, Monday-Friday?

Also, 間眅埶AV campus security officers will be randomly handing out pink toques throughout the day. They are also here on campus to assist you, at any time.

I invite all students, staff and faculty to show their support for this special day and take a stand against bullying. Beyond Pink Shirt Day, lets continue to take a stand, create safe spaces and continue to be a bully-free zone throughout our community, all year long.
