Steve sits down with Kathleen Burke, university lecturer at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's Beedie School of Business. Along with her teaching, Kathleen is the facilitator of Community Leaders Igniting Change, a 12-week program that helps local community members build upon their leadership skills and confidence as change-makers. Kathleen recounts her journey of growing up in Indiana and playing basketball, what prompted her to move to British Columbia to continue her education, and what it means to her to work alongside community leaders.

Guest: Kathleen Burke

Dr. Kathleen Burke is an educator, facilitator and speaker specializing in ethics and leadership. She is a University Lecturer with the Beedie School of Business at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and recipient of the TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching award, an annual award that recognized teaching excellence in the Beedie School of Business.

Since 2015, Kathleen has facilitated the Envision Financial Community Leaders Igniting Change program which supports local community members build upon their leadership skills and confidence as change-makers. This Surrey-based initiative is a partnership between Envision Financial, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Surrey, and the Surrey Poverty Reduction Coalition to support those who live and/or work in Surrey in their interests and efforts to make positive change in their community.

Kathleen works extensively with story, poetry and academic theory and research to promote conversations and practices to foster engagement, moral imagination and purpose within the workplace and community.
