Health & Safety
At ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Meeting, Event and Conference Services (MECS), we reduce risks for our clients by adhering to strict health and safety policies that ensure your event is a success.
Our preferred supplier procurement policy ensures that all catering and event services meet high standards. We manage a network of contracted service providers, including specialized caterers like Compass Chartwells, Lazy Gourmet, Pacific Coast Catering, Tayybeh, and H.A.V.E., ensuring quality across all three campuses.
Regulatory Compliance
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV MECS diligently manages food and liquor regulations, holding necessary permits from regional health authorities like Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health. We extend these permits to our clients through event contracts, ensuring compliance in campus kitchens and other catering spaces.
Licensing and Permits
We handle campus liquor licenses and oversee exclusive catering partnership licenses, making sure all activities align with provincial liquor license regulations and ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV policies, including environmental management, ethical procurement, and sustainability practices.
Controversial Events
MECS partners with ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Safety & Risk Services (SRS) to pre-screen and assess potentially controversial events, ensuring they align with the university’s safety and community standards. Through comprehensive risk assessments, MECS and SRS identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. This proactive approach ensures that all ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV events maintain a safe, inclusive environment while upholding the university’s commitment to free expression and community well-being.
Risk Management
MECS ensures effective risk management for events across ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s campuses by developing tailored strategies in collaboration with Safety & Risk Services. From planning to on-site support, MECS identifies risks, implements preventative measures, and oversees real-time safety protocols to ensure all events meet the university’s safety standards and protect the community.
