Citizen Engagement: Three New Resources to Help Engage More Meaningfully with the Public
Citizen engagement is an opportunity to co-create solutions to many of today鈥檚 pressing issues. From taking action on climate change to building a more equitable society to strengthening democratic processes, citizen engagement is essential.
So, how do we鈥揳s organizations, governments and social movements鈥揷reate meaningful citizen engagement?
At 丁香园AV鈥檚 Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, we鈥檙e all about advancing innovations in dialogue, and we鈥檝e got a library of resources to help you out. We鈥檝e recently launched three new resources that we鈥檇 like to share.
Citizen engagement resource for climate action
Our International Climate Engagement Network team has created a resource to support governments and practitioners in citizen engagement related to climate action. The report outlines:
- Examples of innovations in climate engagement
- Key challenges to citizen engagement on climate change
- Existing knowledge centres and learning communities that are supporting climate engagement practitioners
- Next steps for the creation of the International Climate Engagement Network
Citizen engagement resource for equity and inclusion
Ethical and effective citizen engagement must include hearing from people with diverse lived experiences. Our Knowledge and Practice team created a resource to help governments, organizations and practitioners with meaningful and inclusive citizen engagement. We call it Beyond Inclusion: Equity in Public Engagement, and it鈥檚 available in English and French. We also created an international version.
Citizen engagement resource for evaluating democratic engagement
There are many ways to use citizen engagement to strengthen democracy. What works for one group may not work for another. So, how do we know which tool for citizen engagement works best? One way is through evaluation, and our team has created three workbooks to help evaluate democratic engagement initiatives. The workbooks lead users through the process of selecting methods and creating questions.
