Community Leadership Award
CONGRATULATIONS TO SAYYIDAH JAFFER, STUDENT IN THE FRENCH COHORT PROGRAM IN PUBLIC AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS, WINNER OF THE 2024 COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD!
THE APPLICATION PERIOD FOR THE 2024 IS NOW CLOSED.
For a third year, the Community Leadership Award will be offered through the joint support of the endowment fund and the Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (OFFA) at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV (¶¡ÏãÔ°AV). It recognizes and rewards a dedicated student or graduate who provides service to the community by promoting the French language and La Francophonie in British Columbia.
The successful candidate will receive $3,000 in recognition of their volunteer efforts. The award will be presented during the Printemps de la francophonie event organized by OFFA and scheduled for March.
Students and graduates meeting the selection criteria listed below are invited to apply before February 11, 2024.
The Fondation des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique was created in 1998 by French speakers who envisioned a future in which the entire Francophone and Francophile community has the means to live and thrive in B.C. One of the primary goals of this charitable organization is to promote the French language in our province through higher education.
OFFA’s mission is to coordinate, promote and support the development of programs and courses offered in French at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. It also organizes scientific and cultural activities in the community in order to promote a plural and inclusive Francophonie.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Eligibility
At the time of application, the candidate will:
- be enrolled (declared) in or graduated from a full-time French-language program at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV (Fall and/or Spring terms),
- have a satisfactory academic standing (academic continuance),
- have demonstrated outstanding community involvement contributing to the promotion of the French language and/or the French-speaking community in British Columbia.
Candidate selection
- Candidates will be evaluated by a committee composed of university and community members, based on their commitment and leadership within French-speaking communities, associations, organizations and/or ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.
Documents required
- Completed application via Google Forms,
- C.V. demonstrating volunteer involvement in the community/university (attached to your Google Forms form where indicated).
- Two letters of recommendation from a community organization or a community or academic leader demonstrating the applicant’s impact on the community (attached to your Google Forms form where indicated).
