School of Sustainable Energy Engineering
2024 Holiday Message from the SEE Director
Our school has continued its rapid evolution through 2024, building on our past successes and forging new paths.
Serving as the SEE director has been an incredibly rewarding and enriching experience. The opportunities to engage with the SEE faculty and support team gave me a renewed respect for everyone’s incredible dedication and commitment.
A major highlight of 2024 was celebrating the fifth anniversary of our school. It was a moment of pride as we reflected on the accomplishments of our students, who achieved success in local and national engineering competitions, in addition to academic excellence. Our faculty members continued to innovate, creating dynamic learning opportunities with hands-on experiences and collaboration with industry leaders.
As part of our school’s growth this year, we welcomed two incredibly talented and world-class faculty members. Another cohort of talented graduates from our undergraduate and graduate programs entered the workforce, making impactful contributions to the cleantech and energy sectors across Canada. It was equally gratifying to see many of our alumni head to graduate school.
We have launched our Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Sustainable Energy Engineering program and look forward to welcoming our first cohort of students in fall 2025. Students in this cohort- and course-based program will acquire highly marketable skills in a rapidly expanding job market. It is designed to foster cutting-edge engineering solutions in an experiential learning environment.
Looking ahead, we are excited to further enhance our team with the addition of two new faculty members in 2025. The school will also undergo its first external review, an invaluable opportunity to gain insights and recommendations from esteemed leaders in sustainability.
It is delightful to see that our team has evolved into a close-knit family and the holiday season offers us the opportunity to reflect on our collective achievements. I wish everyone a restful and rejuvenating break, hoping you will be recharged for an even more exciting year ahead.
