Areas of interest
Dr. Flowers and her team study the terrestrial cryosphere using geophysical observations and computer modelling, with a focus on understanding fundamental glacier processes. Their field-based research program in Northern Canada has addressed glacier–climate interactions, stable and unstable ice flow including glacier surging, heat and mass transport processes, and glacier-dammed lakes and outburst floods. Along with other projects in the Arctic, this research contributes to our understanding of the role glaciers and ice sheets play in the global climate system as well as their resource and hazard potential.
