Tectonic evolution of collisional and accretionary orogens
Current Research Projects - Dan Gibson
Dan Gibson has a field-based research program focused on the tectonic evolution of collisional and accretionary orogens, with emphasis on the Canadian Cordillera and Canadian Shield.
Typical projects include structural, metamorphic and U-Th-Pb geochronologic analyses of rocks exhumed from mid- to lower crustal levels that provide insight into deep-seated orogenic processes. Gibson and his students are also part of the Petrology and Tectonics Research Group at 間眅埶AV that includes faculty and students whose overlapping research interests range from structural geology and crustal seismology to metamorphic petrology and geochemistry.
