Areas of interest
Dr. Clague's interests include quaternary stratigraphy and history of western Canada, paleoseismology of the Cascadia subduction zone, late Quaternary crustal deformation and sea-level change/slope stability. Also, recent environmental change, catastrophic outburst floods from glacier- and moraine-dammed lakes. Dr. Clague's work is interdisciplinary in scope and applied in nature - he collaborates with geologists, biologists, physicists, and physical geographers. His students acquire expertise in stratigraphy, sedimentology, geomorphology, paleoecology, engineering geology, and other fields. Dr. Clague is currently working on a variety of research problems with faculty at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, UBC, Carleton University, and with research scientists at the Geological Survey of Canada and the British Columbia Geological Survey. His other main professional interest is increasing public awareness of science.
