Hydrology
Paul Whitfield is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Saskatchewan Centre for Hydrology; and Emeritus Scientist at Environment and Climate Change Canada. He is an Associate Editor of the Canadian Water Resources Journal and of the AGU’s Water Resources Research. His core scientific expertise are the hydrology and water chemistry of cold regions and the applications of statistics to the analysis of environmental data. Current research interests are [i] the analysis of trends and changes in floods and flood processes. [ii] climatic controls of flows in intermittent streams, [iii] the sensitivity of ecological processes to climate, particularly the impact of weather and climate on peatland hydrology, and [iv] data provenance and the uncertainty of measurements and model predictions. Paul has authored or co-authored more than 200 journal articles over the past 50 years (H-index is 46, according to google scholar [accessed 18th November 2021]).
