Areas of interest
Derek is a Quaternary geologist who explores the timing and causes of Pleistocene glaciations in the Canadian Cordillera, their connection to long-term climate change and their lasting impact on the people, ecology, and landscape of northwestern North America. He is active in the mineral exploration and infrastructure development industries, applying terrain, stability and surficial geology mapping to a variety of applications. Derek also researches the use of open educational resources and education technology to make Earth Science education more accessible for students.
