Areas of interest

Natural hazards, Quaternary geology, paleomagnetism, Pliocene and Early Pleistocene glacial records.

Nick is a Quaternary geologist focusing on mountainous regions. He combines stratigraphy, geomorphology, geochronology, geotechnics, and applied remote sensing to address diverse questions about hazardous processing as well as late-Cenozoic landscape evolution and biogeoclimatic change. His specializations include urban geohazards, landslide impulse waves, radar interferometry (InSAR), paleomagnetism, Pliocene through Early Pleistocene glacial records, and geohazard risk. Nick’s research is largely focused in southeast Australian, western Canada, and the Andes.
