Geotechnical Engineering
Dr. Sonia D’Ambra is a rock mechanics Engineer with over 20 years of experience in academia and consulting. Sonia is interested in rock mechanics and rock engineering, particularly mining rock slope stability. Dr. D’Ambra focuses on innovative long-term cost-effective solutions for mining projects that improve safety, reduce cost and maximize value.
Dr. D’Ambra is also interested in numerical modelling and geomechanics, especially the application of computational/numerical modelling techniques for developing improvements to existing site characterization, analysis, design and stability assessment methods.
Sonia is passionate about fairness and diversity. She supports women in science end engineering through mentoring, coaching and lecturing.
