Bursary for Pre-service French Teachers

Bursary of up to $1600

This bursary is offered by the and Child Care of British Columbia for students enrolled in a teacher education program to teach French or to teach in French. 

BURSARY APPLICATION 2024-2025:

Students must fill out an online bursary application form for each term of studies.

Students admitted to the Professional Development Program (PDP) French Module will receive an email in September 2024 with information about the first portion of the bursary ($800), the dates and the link to the online application form. Bursary recipients will receive the funds in their student account in December 2024.  Students will receive another email in March 2025 with information about the second portion ($800). Bursary recipients will receive the funds in their student account in June 2025.

Students admitted to the Professional Linking Program (PLP) French Module will receive an email in March 2024 with information about the first portion of the bursary ($800), the dates and the link to the online application form. Bursary recipients will receive the funds in their student account in June 2024.  Students will receive another email in September 2024 with information about the second portion ($800). Bursary recipients will receive the funds in their student account in December 2024.

Conditions:

  • Students must be admitted to the PDP French Module or PLP French Module.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time.
  • For the summer semester, students must take 3 of the 4 courses taught in French.
  • Students must complete the semester of studies in which each bursary is received. If for any reason a student is withdrawn or withdraws from the program during the semester, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV will be entitled to demand reimbursement of the bursary.

  • Complete an application for each term of studies

Attention: You will receive a different url link for each term. You have to apply for each term.

Payment:

  • Bursaries will be granted on a first come first serve basis until all funds are exhausted.
  • For the summer term, priority will be given to students who are enrolled in the minor in French education as part of their PDP or PLP summer courses (/education/programs/undergraduate-studies/minors/french-education-minor.html). 
  • Bursary recipients will be notified by email.  Applicants who do not receive a bursary will also be notified by email (ineligible, funds exhausted).
  • Payments will be made according to the following schedule:

ATTENTION: At the date of this communication, the renewal of the agreement with the Ministry has not been signed yet. Payments may be postponed to a later date if the agreement has not signed at the proposed payment date.

Amount:

  • The value of the bursary is up to $1600 per student for the entire program.
  • For the PDP students, the first payment for Fall will be $800 and the second payment for Summer will be $800.
  • For the PLP students, the first payment for Summer will be $800 and the second payment for Fall will be $800.
  • Recipients who interrupt the program and re-enter at a later fiscal year will not receive any additional bursaries if they already received the maximum total amount.
