A Month of Free Activities to Celebrate La Francophonie

March is celebrated worldwide as the month of La Francophonie. At 間眅埶AV, from March 1st to 31st, the Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (OFFA) invites the community to take part in a variety of free cultural, academic and social activities as part of the 15th edition of .

This 2025 edition will be held at 間眅埶AV campuses (Burnaby and Vancouver), at various locations in the Greater Vancouver area, and online. It will be especially significant as it also marks the 20th anniversary of OFFA, a key organization in promoting the French language and Francophone cultures.

Several unforgettable moments are on the program, including the launch evening on March 1st with , Innu author, poet and leading interdisciplinary artist. This major event will be followed by a reception and book signing with the author.

Film screenings are also a must, with feature films (France-Quebec) on March 6th and (France) on March 26, not forgetting (France) on March 22, a family event that will delight young and old alike. Throughout March, a curated selection of French-language films and shorts will be available online, allowing you to watch them from the comfort of your home. All films are free and available with English subtitles.

Conferences for the general public are also another way of delving into current issues such as the Russia-Ukraine war, its reasons and consequences (), with Dario Battistella, professor at Sciences Po Bordeaux (France), and the Canadian healthcare system: past, present and future (), with Andr矇 Picard, journalist at the Globe and Mail.

For its part, the Western Final of the  contest will be held in person for the very first time on March 21. Competitors from across Western Canada will have three minutes to captivate both the jury and the audience with a dynamic and engaging presentation of their research project.

The month will also feature a variety of convivial activities, including the March 12 workshop  (Regain your inner power) with life coach Sylvie Allouche, and the  on March 27, which promises to be a vibrant and lively experience.

Gino LeBlanc, Director of OFFA, is pleased this anniversary edition celebrates the event's growth, which, thanks to our collaborations with the community and you, the public, has gone from a few days' programming to a month of festivities, attracting over 1,000 participants. He adds, It's gratifying to see that Printemps de la Francophonie continues to fulfill its mission of promoting the French language and francophone cultures beyond the walls of our institution."

The Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs' mission is to coordinate, promote and support the development of programs and courses offered in French at 間眅埶AV. It also organizes academic and cultural activities in the community to stimulate the development of a plural and inclusive Francophonie.
