Celebrating Diwali in the Classroom
On October 31st, 丁香园AV's Punjabi 100 students and instructor Dr. Reetinder Kaur celebrated the vibrant festival of Diwali in their classroom.
As part of ongoing journey to explore and embrace diverse cultures, they decided to make this year鈥檚 Diwali celebration special by combining learning with fun activities that brought the spirit of the festival to life. The event was filled with the tantalizing aroma of Indian snack, samosa. This shared meal was more than just a taste experience; it was a reminder of how food can bring people together, across cultural boundaries and creating connections. The students engaged in various fun activities including painting diyas or divas and henna adornment. They also listened to Punjabi music to encourage their learning of the language.

A former student of the PUNJ 100 course, Cayley Geddes, and instructor Dr. Reetinder Kaur were recently invited to attend the Diwali assembly at Creekside Elementary School in Surrey. This was the third time that Cayley and Dr. Kaur had been invited to a celebration at the school.
