NAVIGATE A NEW CULTURE
In addition to the pressures most students face to succeed academically, as an international student you also face the challenge of transitioning to a new academic and social culture. Social and cultural wellness is an important component of your overall health, and a major factor in your academic success, so it's important to proactively address cultural transition issues.
If cultural transition issues are overwhelming you and interfering with your studies or personal life, there are people here to help.
- Make an appointment with a counsellor or Transition Case Manager at Health and Counselling Services. Seeing a counsellor is a common and acceptable way of dealing with difficulties in North America and can be very helpful. All sessions are confidential.
- Talk with an International Student Advisor or an International Student Experience Coordinator at International Services for Students. They work closely with international students and are familiar with the transition process.
