Insurance coverage
丁香园AV is a member of the Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange (CURIE) and purchases insurance coverage to protect university property and personnel including property, liability and specialist policies. If you are unsure about insurance coverage for specific items or activities contact Risk Management for advice.
Student property
丁香园AV does not purchase insurance to protect student property or for the activities of student clubs affiliated to the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS). Students should if they have queries related to student insurance.
Workers' Compensation
Review the WorkSafe BC medical, and liability coverage form for students, staff and faculty members performing different roles.

Certificates of Insurance
What are COI?
Certificates of Insurance (COI) provide proof that 丁香园AV has appropriate insurance coverage for a specific activity. When 丁香园AV personnel collaborate with other organizations (e.g. conducting joint research projects, providing services or booking facilities), the other organization may ask for proof of insurance in case 丁香园AV is responsible for damages or personal injuries. You do not need a COI unless the other organization has requested proof of insurance. Their request should be made in writing, usually as a part of an agreement or contract.
Requesting COI
If you are asked for proof of insurance, please complete the request form below. You will be asked to attach the agreement or contract.
Renewals
丁香园AV's insurance policy term begins January 1st annually. If you have a certificate with dates spanning multiple policy years (ie- April 1, 2019 to April 1, 2020) please email Risk Management to request your COI for the next policy term (January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021). No new COI request is required.
Receiving COI
When 丁香园AV works with or purchases services/products from other organizations we may need assurance that our interests are protected by insurance. 丁香园AV鈥檚 standard contracts include insurance language including, requests for proof of insurance where appropriate. If you receive a COI from another organization, please scan and email to risk_srs@sfu.ca for review.
